Installation

Install the OS using the Nomadesk Kickstart ISO

Before you begin, make sure the VM has the Nomadesk Kickstart ISO attached and that the VM's boot order will boot from the virtual CD/DVD drive.

  1. Start or reboot the VM so it boots from the Nomadesk Kickstart ISO.
  2. Follow the Nomadesk Kickstart installation guide for detailed steps and options whitesky.cloud issues IP addresses using DHCP making this process very easy.

What the Kickstart ISO does for you:

  • Automatically partition the disk and install the base operating system.
  • Install the Nomadesk appliance components required for the next steps.

Let the installer complete. The VM will shut down automatically when the installation finishes. Remove or unmount the ISO before the next boot if your hypervisor does not do this automatically.

Installation

Run the Nomadesk installer

After the VM boots into the newly installed OS and has network connectivity:

  1. Open a web browser and visit the Nomadesk installer on the appliance hostname, for example: https://nomadesk.example.com:8181.
  2. You may receive a certificate warning, Nomadesk uses a self-signed certificate until your own domain certificate gets added in the installer.
You can continue by accepting the certificate or if the accept link is not available by typeing "thisisunsafe" in case of google chrome.
  3. Follow the installer UI and the step-by-step guide: Installing Nomadesk.
